KS2 had a great time this morning when the Gateshead Music Service visited. The children learnt about the different beats and rhythms used in Reggae music, where the music originated and how musicians like Bob Marley used music to spread their views about the world becoming a better place!
There was also some time to practise limbo skills - we think Mr Minett has practised this skill before!
Great fun at Caedmon for Red Nose Day: a whopping £400+ was raised - we're still counting!
Year 4 held a Red Nose Hunt around the school yard. In Year 5, Ridwan baked some cookies and cakes at home to sell, managing to raise £20 all by himself! Well done Ridwan!
Finally, in Year 6, well... the pictures probably speak for themselves, especially the 'delightful' action shots of heavy wet sponges striking faces!
Well done to everyone who took part and raised such a fantastic total.
Last Friday, Year 3 and 4 went to the Sage in Gateshead to perform on the concourse. Over the last eight weeks, each class have been working with Katie and Will from the FolkWorks team to learn some traditional songs. It has been a joy watching and listening to the classes practice their singing, learn about the structure of songs and become a little bit prouder of where they are from.
Whether it be growing in confidence, getting active for an hour or discovering a love of singing, I am really delighted with what the children have achieved in this short space of time. Thank you to all of the parents/carers that came to watch on Friday - it meant so much to the children.
What a wonderful day we've had celebrating World Book Day!
A special thank you to all of the adults who joined us for breakfast and story time at the start of the day.
Everyone looked great in their pyjamas and the children enjoyed taking part in a range of activities to promote their enjoyment of books and reading.
Year 6 were amazed by some of the performances when they went to see Opera North's well-reviewed production of Hansel and Gretel recently.
As you might expect, there was a wide range of reactions from them as the story developed, in terms of the singing, staging and storytelling. The second act, which is much more melodic (and easy to understand) than the first, went down particularly well. Overall, some children loved it, some were still unconvinced but they certainly all left with lots of questions having had a fairly unusual experience!

Congratulations to the Year 5/6 football team, who won their 5-a-side tournament held at Gateshead Stadium earlier this evening.
After a series of entertaining games against some extremely strong competition, they managed to comfortably win a tense penalty shoot out to settle first place, after drawing level on points and goals scored in the final league table with another school.
They will again represent Caedmon in the area final in a couple of weeks time. No pictures from tonight unfortunately, as it was a very busy evening of football: you'll just have to take our word the children were very pleased with the outcome!
