  • Y6 Visit Newcastle University

Sun 28 Feb 2016 Mr. Lawson

Our Y6 children recently had the chance to visit Newcastle University. With the help of student ambassadors, they learned about what university life was like, the types of courses they might choose to study and explored the (huge) university campus.

The aim was to get our Y6 children to consider what happens after they leave school and that learning can (and should) be a lifelong experience. For example, they learned that a teacher in school is studying for a Masters degree from Newcastle University in his own time and that all of the teachers in school had to attend university before they could qualify to be a teacher.

The whole class were extremely enthusiastic about the visit and the idea of university life - most children in Year 6 said after the visit that they now want to go to university when they are older, to help them realise their ambitions.

  • Green Screen ICT

Mon 01 Feb 2016 Mr. Lawson
Some of our classes have recently been using Green Screen technology (including iPad apps) to help improve their writing and ICT skills.

The results are very impressive. Year 3 have been learning about rainforests and some explorers in this class produced some interesting short videos. Meanwhile, over in Year 4, adverts were produced to advertise the Fairtrade shop they had set up.
