  • Valentines Day

Tue 14 Feb 2017 Mrs Hooker

    Happy Valentines Day!

Year 5 arrived this morning to find a lovely surprise. Miss Donnelly and Mrs Bolton had wrote personalised messages for each child. It was a chance to show the children that Valentines Day isn't all about 'boyfriends and girlfriends' but an opportunity to share nice thoughts about each other.

  • ZooLab Visits Y3

    Sun 12 Feb 2017

Year 3 had some very unusual visitors earlier this week, when ZooLab paid them a visit.

The children had a chance to handle a variety of creatures. Let's hope that none of the animals enjoyed their visit so much that they decided to make their stay a permanent one!

  • Reading Together

Wed 08 Feb 2017 Mr. Lawson

Year 5 and Year 2 recently spent some time together simply enjoying reading.

Older children reading to younger children is a great way to improve both of their reading skills, especially when they have a wide range of interesting books to choose from. This can be just as true at home as it is at school - a good afternoon was certainly had by all of the children in these two classes and hopefully they will get the chance to do it again soon...

  • Destination Judo

Tue 07 Feb 2017 Mr Warren

Destination Judo arrived at Caedmon again this week, with all of the children from Year 1 up to Year 6 taking part in fun-filled, action-packed 30 minute taster sessions.

Judo instructor John put the children through their paces and helped them to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle, supported by 60 minutes of daily exercise.

All children are now invited to attend a free coaching session run by Destination Judo. This is a fantastic opportunity to try something new and join a number of other Caedmon pupils who have started training since last year's taster sessions.

  • Fire Safety Training in Year 2 and Year 5

Tue 07 Feb 2017 Mr Warren

On Friday 3rd February, all of the children in Year 2 and Year 5 took part in a fire safety workshop from the Tyne and Wear Fire Rescue Service.

A local Fireman visited to help the children understand how to act safely and quickly to prevent fires.

All of the children showed a fantastic attitude to the workshops and learned about the importance of smoke alarms, recognising the causes of fires, acting quickly and safely in the event of as fire and asking a range of questions. Some even got to try on some of the fireman’s kit!

  • Year 5/6 Bowls competition

Tue 07 Feb 2017 Miss Rogers

Last Thursday, a few lucky students in Year 5 and Year 6, competed in a local indoor Bowls competition.

Our two teams performed really well and showed perfect sportsmanship, shaking the hands of the opposing players at the end of each match.

Miss Collins also joined in the fun and had a good go, albeit with a little help from some of the Year children!

Special congratulations to our Year 5 team for winning their league and we would like to thank both teams for taking part.

  • Parental Questionnaire

Wed 01 Feb 2017 Mrs Hooker

Parents should have received a questionnaire from school either last night or tonight, asking for their opinion on how we are doing as a school. We would be most grateful if parents could complete one questionnaire per child and return to school by the end of Friday 3rd Feb. If people would prefer to complete the survey online, please click on the below link.
