  • Netball Success

    Thu 26 Feb 2015 Mrs J Hooker
Well done to the children who competed in the Year 5/6 Netball Tournament at Gateshead Leisure Centre last night. The children played brilliantly together as a team and were excellent representatives of the school. They came away winners of the Bronze Medal and now go forward to play on behalf of Gateshead at the Tyne & Wear Games next month.
  • Year 3's Exciting Visitors

Tue 10 Feb 2015 Mr Warren

Year 3 had a very exciting visit from some amazing animals from the rainforests around the world including: a Giant Millipede, a scorpion, some African cockroaches, an Australian carpet python, a leopard gecko and even a Brazilian tarantula called Tallulah!

During their visit we got to hold some of the animals (if we were brave enough...) and ask questions about each of our exotic visitors! We used our knowledge of the rainforest and the layers of the rainforest to impress our Zoolab ranger by telling him where each of the animals lived and their habitats.

We learned all about each of the animals, including how each animal is perfectly adapted to the unique surroundings of the rainforest and how they hunt and kill their prey. We had a great day meeting each of the amazing creatures…. we just hope none of them were left behind in our classroom!

  • Judo Fever

Mon 09 Feb 2015 Mr Warren
All of the children at school have been put through their paces by Destination:Judo who visited each year group to teach us some basic judo skills - we even got to try on some Judo uniforms that looked a little bit like pyjamas!! We had great fun learning all about the ways and origins of Judo and practiced working with our partners to perfect our Judo throws.

  • Go Y5/6 Netball Team!

Mon 09 Feb 2015 Miss Galsworthy

  • Y5's Art Attack

Fri 06 Feb 2015 Mr. Lawson

Year 5 were recently lucky enough to visit the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. Though they enjoyed touring the museum, much of the day was spent learning about a world-renowned artist who spent a lot of time in the north east - L.S. Lowry.

As part of the visit, they were able to see some of his paintings and sketches, including some famous views of the River Wear. It was incredible to see some of these masterpieces in real life, after learning about them in class.

During this time, work was started on a huge piece of artwork to be completed in the coming weeks. Check out our class website for updates in the coming weeks...
