  • Year 4 Visit Cat & Dog Shelter

Thu 26 Jan 2017 Mr Wynn
On Monday the 23rd of January, Year 4 visited the Newcastle Cat and Dog Shelter in Longbenton. This is part of both our Topic and Literacy work, as we seek to write from a viewpoint using emotive language. The whole class enjoyed the trip and it was a really good opportunity to see first-hand the role that Shelters up and down the country play in our society. We shall be keeping in touch with the Shelter and looking at how we can raise money for them in the coming months.
  • Year 3 & 4 Folkworks Project

Thu 26 Jan 2017 Mr Wynn
Year 3 and 4 have started working with the Folkworks Project, as part of the Sage, Gateshead's initiative to get into schools. We learned some old dialogue and practised a song that was over 100 years old called, 'Byker Hill and Walker Shore'. If you thought our singing was good, you should have seen our dancing! The project runs for another 6 weeks and finishes with a performance at the Sage in Gateshead on March 3rd.
  • EYFS Meet Northumbria Police

Fri 20 Jan 2017 Laura Norder

Nursery and Reception children excitedly welcomed two very special guests earlier this week, when police officers from Northumbria Police visited the school.

The children, who have been learning about the role of the police through their People Who Help Us topic, were very keen to ask questions about the officers’ outfits, day-to-day life and how to stay safe.

They also experienced a glimpse of what life in the police force is like when they sat behind the wheel and sounded the sirens!

  • Y3 Yoga

Thu 19 Jan 2017 Mr. Lawson

Year 3 really enjoyed their yoga session last week and it appears we have some children for whom it seemed to be second nature!

Mr. Minett definitely told us, "If it's good enough for Ryan Giggs - who played professional football until he was 40, remember - it's good enough for my class too."

Very true Mr. Minett, very true...

Bring your pennies and sample some of year 1's delightful creations!

  • Fun in the Snow!

Fri 13 Jan 2017 Mrs Hooker
Our lessons were postponed this morning for a short while so the children could go out and have some fun in the snow. Mr Wisby and Mr Wynn were on the run as they took a barrage of shots from the children!
  • Accelerated Reader

Tue 10 Jan 2017 Mr. Lawson

Our Key Stage 2 children seem to be thoroughly enjoying using Accelerated Reader since the start of term last week. Between the four classes they have read an astonishing 784,970 words in just five days - a very impressive figure.

Further information will be provided for parents over the coming weeks (in addition to the letter from Miss Donnelly that went out on Friday https://primarysite-prod-sorted.s3.amazonaws.com/caedmoncommunity/UploadedDocument/3db194166a00477cae7e015e1b2cdfa1/accelerated-reader.pdf).

In the meantime, we just want everyone to keep reading!
