  • Caedmon Go Run For Fun at Saltwell Park

Fri 27 May 2016 Mr Warren

Well done to everyone who took part in Friday's Go Run for Fun event at Saltwell Park.

Caedmon took over 190 children to the event and were the second largest school in attendance! A special well done to Elif Celikay who was the first girl to finish in the Elite Race.

Out of the 3000 children who attended the event from schools across Gateshead, Caedmon showed a fantastic attitude and effort and really enjoyed running over 1 mile round the park.

A big well done to all of the children in Reception class who danced, laughed and ran all the way around the lake.

Have a great half term and KEEP ON RUNNING FOR FUN!

  • Science Week

Fri 27 May 2016 Miss Donnelly

This week our young scientists have dusted for fingerprints, observed bite marks and checked out suspicious shoe prints at  ‘crime scenes’ throughout the school.

The investigations were part of a range of activities for National Science Week. We decided to focus on the ‘working scientifically’ strand and make the investigations as cross curricular as possible. Other highlights across the week included a visit from Mr Dawson- a real crime scene investigator-he talked to the children about how science was used to prove or disprove things and then they all took part in mini investigation.

You can see some video highlights of our week here.

  • Show Racism the Red Card

Tue 24 May 2016 Miss Donnelly

Year 5 and 6 took part in fun filled day of activities with representatives from the Show Racism The Red Card organization.

Pupils took part in classroom-based workshops that were designed to build empathy and understanding and to encourage discussion and critical thinking. ‘Football and Fitness’ sessions were also delivered throughout the day by ex-professional footballer Dean Gordon.

  • Stay and Play in Nursery

Tue 24 May 2016 Miss Doherty

Many nursery children were delighted when their parents and grandparents took the opportunity to join in a Stay and Play session this week. The session saw many families and children join in a range of activities such as construction, block building and clay modelling. Some children and their parents also went on a mini-beast hunt in our outdoor area and the following day we welcomed two pet snails into our nursery!

The final Stay and Play of the year will be held in the next half term. A letter will be sent out with further information nearer the time.

We currently have openings in our Nursery (which is staffed full-time by a fully qualified teacher) for a start in September onwards.

If you'd like to take a look around, we are having an open day on Friday 17th June. See the flyer below for more details...

  • Music Workshop

    Tue 03 May 2016

On Monday 25th April, our school day began with a Music Workshop. All children were welcomed by Channy Thompson, Geoff Mull and Jaimie Lee Henderson. They sang some amazing songs.

The children enjoyed an hour long workshop where they sang along to the songs of Justin Beiber and Little Mix!

After all the fun from the singing, they gave the children inspirational advice on always following their dreams and working hard to achieve whatever they want to do.
