Keep up to date with the latest news in school here.
We have recently been made aware of a number of children in our school having active social media accounts (on sites such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook etc.).
Though most websites do specify that people must be 13 years of age or older before having an account, we do realise that some children (sometimes with parent approval) will have one anyway.
We fully believe in helping children to use the internet as a tool to communicate and create, so long as this is done safely.
We had an assembly today to remind children in Y4 - Y6 of a few simple ways to stay safe online:
Finally, try your best to keep at least some parts of your life private - think of how uncomfortable you may be if someone you do not want to watches your videos or reads your posts, even those you created a long time ago.
Our advice follows the sensible suggestions set out by CEOP. For more information please check out their website.
Have fun online but STAY SAFE!
On Monday, Reception class had a great time at Kingsmeadow School. The children took part in a range of sporting activities. The children were all exceptionally well behaved and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
All of the children were involved in some entertaining workshops delivered by Seven Stories on Tuesday to start off our celebrations for World Book Day this week.
The whole school, children and staff, got involved in the celebrations by coming to school on Thursday dressed as their favourite book characters. There were some amazing costumes on show and winners were picked from each year group.
The classes got involved in lots of fun activities during the day. Year 2 went on a 'Book Hunt' around school in search of 'Happy Endings' which they thoroughly enjoyed.
As usual, every child received a book token to spend on a book of their choice.
Our school was lucky enough to receive ten tickets to the premiere of the new series of the popular CBBC TV show Wolfblood*.
From the Year 6 prefects (who have been working very hard this year to help improve our school) the fortunate few were picked at random to attend the event at the Baltic with the invitation to come 'dressed to impress', walking down the red carpet in style.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed watching the never-before-seen first two episodes from the new series (which is filmed around Gateshead and Newcastle) before meeting some of the actors and being part of a question and answer session. Though it was a late night, it was well worth it for the children and staff.
*Some of you may know this series by its more popular name, The Blood of the Wolves - Iqra and Antonia made sure that I added that detail in if it wasn't clear.
Yes... Iqra and Antonia said to do that...
