  • Y2 Visit Alnwick Castle

Fri 16 Oct 2015 Mrs. Hall

Year 2 had lots of fun acting as knights and princesses at Alnwick Castle. We explored the castle and found out lots of information for our Topic: Castles, Kings and Queens. Some people were brave and even went in the dungeon, though they didn't want to spend a long time in there!

A number of brave people completed the dragon quest. We made magic wands and cast some spells. Overall, we had an amazing time and, fortunately, the weather was brilliant.

  • Basketball Fun with Gateshead Phoenix

Wed 14 Oct 2015 Mrs Hooker / Mrs Tait

We were very lucky to be given some tickets from Gateshead Phoenix basketball team to go and watch their latest match at the Leisure Centre on Sunday. They took on the Sheffield Hallam Sharks and won 84-69.

The children had a fab time cheering them on with their friends and families from the sidelines.

Please see below some of the photos taken on the day.

Photo 1: There is someone in the Caedmon crowd in front of the basketball team who isnt a child from Caedmon! If you can guess who it is and what their name is - come and let me know. The first person to get the right answer will win a prize!

Mon 12 Oct 2015 Mrs Collins

In our assembly time, we have been talking about charities. Each class has chosen a charity to support for the term. They will be finding out about the work of the charity and have been encouraged to bring in spare change from home to collect for their charity. Some children are planning special fundraising events and activities for their charity too.

    Our charities are:

    Year 1: Guide Dogs

    Year 2: RSPCA

    Year 3: Save the Children

    Year 4: NSPCC

    Year 5: British Heart Foundation

    Year 6: NSPCC

  • Match Report: Caedmon FC

    Fri 02 Oct 2015 Nathaniel Ohimor (Y6)

Last night, Caedmon played their first match of the new season at South Street. It was a hard fought contest and a very decent match to watch - even though it ended in a 1 - 1 draw.

In the early stages, Caedmon had the advantage when they managed to take a one goal lead through Jonny Choppen, after a cross-field pass from Nathaniel Ohimor. Afterwards, there were some exceptional performances from Year 5 children making their debut. Gbolahan showed some silky skills whilst Aleasha was as solid as a rock in defence.

Unfortunately, just as the second half had started, the opposition managed to claw a goal back. There was nothing Anthony Winn could do to stop the ball blazing into the bottom right-hand corner and he otherwise had a very good game.

The team will play again next Thursday, again at South Street: get yourself to that football ground to cheer them on!

    The full squad:

    Anthony W. (GK)

    Aleasha S. (D)

    Nathaniel O. (D)

    Raihan R. (RM)
