Impact

At Caedmon Primary School, we strive to ensure that all pupils develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Through a creative, inclusive and progressive computing curriculum, children become responsible digital citizens, effective problem-solvers and resilient learners who are prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the future.

Our curriculum enables pupils to recognise the role that technology plays in everyday life and the world of work, helping to raise aspirations and broaden their understanding of future careers. Children learn to use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully, developing the skills needed to contribute positively as local, national and global citizens. Through collaborative learning, creativity and perseverance, pupils build confidence in their own abilities while understanding that everyone can succeed in computing regardless of background, ability or prior experience.

We measure the success of our curriculum through pupil voice, assessment information, lesson observations, work scrutiny and skills audits. This information is used to inform curriculum development and ensure that all pupils make strong progress throughout their computing journey.

As a result, pupils at Caedmon Primary School will:

  • Be enthusiastic, confident and resilient learners who enjoy computing.
  • Understand how computing skills can support a wide range of future careers and opportunities.
  • Present as competent and adaptable computational thinkers who can apply logical reasoning and problem-solving skills across the curriculum and beyond.
  • Demonstrate perseverance when identifying, troubleshooting and debugging problems.
  • Create, evaluate and improve digital projects for different audiences and purposes.
  • Use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully, understanding their role as positive digital citizens.
  • Appreciate the contribution of diverse individuals and groups within the field of computing and technology.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively when designing, creating and evaluating digital solutions.
  • Transition to secondary school equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to continue their computing education and prepare for an ever-changing technological world.
