ntroducing Caedy the Caedmon Elephant!
Over the past few months, our children have worked hard to design a sculpture for the St Oswald's Hospice Elmer's Great North Parade campaign that represents the diverse and inclusive school that we are part of.
Caedy has lots of symbolism that shows this; budding flowers and a tree represents the children starting their journey at Caedmon and the blossoming flowers and blooming tree show children as they grow and thrive. The eagle, taken from the school logo, takes flight on one side then soars on the other. The sun, moon, stars and musical notes are also part of the Caedmon school logo. A map of the world on top of our sculpture has drawings that represent the cultures and interests within our school: flags of the different countries our children come from, 'together' written in the different languages of our children, our religions, Gateshead landmarks and our favourite subjects, all set on the backdrop of Elmer style patchwork to represent difference and unity.
We hope you like it! Thanks to all of the children for their fantastic ideas; we are so proud of their hard work.
