Year 5 have had a fantastic day at Newcastle Racecourse led by Racing To School!

We spent the day exploring the behind the scenes of a typical race day. We began in the weighing room and learned about the imperial measurement system before making our way to the horse paddock. We were surprised to see how much maths is present in horse racing!

We had the chance to watch plenty of races. We watched three in total in three different areas of the racecourse and Miss Gillam even picked a winner!

All of year 5 had a great time and had the opportunity to ask Carrie and Toby, two former jockeys, lots of questions!
