Year 6 step back in time!

As part of their WW2 history topic, Year 6 visited the Victoria Tunnels in Ouseburn – an incredible 2.5 miles of tunnels stretching beneath Newcastle!

The children learned what life would have been like sheltering underground during air raids in WW2 and really impressed us with their curiosity and thoughtful questions.

A real highlight of the day was a special Q&A workshop with 87 year old Miriam, who was evacuated as a child during the war. Hearing her first-hand experiences brought history to life in a powerful and unforgettable way.
