Art Week

1st week back after the holidays was Art Week at Caedmon. The children had lots of fun working with artists Matt and Kerry. Reception, Year 1 and 2 worked with Kerry making recycled puppets and Year 3, 4 and 5 made some brilliant stencil artwork with Matt. Thank you to anyone who brought in old xmas decorations and cardboard boxes to help make the puppets a success. We also held an art competition. The children worked brilliantly to create their own painted self portrait on canvas. Well done to everyone and an extra well done to the winners below. Nursery winners will be announced soon! Thanks again to everyone involved in making art week a success!

Year 2 Puppet Making

During Art week Year 2 have been making their own puppets from recycled products. We all had fun and got really messy as well as learning how to take care of our environment. Here you can see Dray and Jenny having fun making their own puppets.

FUNDRAISING IN SCHOOL

Thank you for your donations to our fundraising before the Christmas break. We raised £70.58 for the British Legion's Poppy Appeal and £104.79 for St Oswald's Hospice from the bauble competition, donations at the carol service and staff donations. Your support is very much appreciated by these charities.

No Limits Theatre

In Year 5 we have been lucky enough to have people from No Limits Theatre pop in to school to teach us a wide variety of techniques used to make stage productions. They taught us how music can be used to imitate footsteps and other movements around the stage as well as creating atmosphere through song.

Thank you to No Limits Theatre for their visit to school and look out for Year 5 pupils who may appear on a stage near you soon!

Musical masters!

Year 5 have been learning to play the Violin as part of their music lesson over term 1. They have covered various notes and learned how to skilfully blend individual notes in to a melody. To achieve this they have used different techniques to produce the sounds including plucking the strings!!

The class still have notes to learn and lessons will resume in January! Keep up the good work!

Over the past term Year 5 have been enjoying their Cookery Club with the school cooks. They have been making different types of cakes and biscuits. I have been reliably informed that all children involved have so far enjoyed their creations!! I think you will agree that their food looks delicious!!

Well done to all our chefs in the making! There are still a chance for those who haven't been involved so far to test their cookery skills in the new term!!

Year 4 Sewing!

In recent weeks Year 4 have been creating purses as part of their design technology work. Mrs Wilson brought in some examples for them to look at before they put their own ideas on to paper to plan what they would like to do. Once they had finished their planning the pupils then practised threading needles and sewing before they could move on to the real thing. They hope you enjoy their finished purses that you can see below!!

Well done to the whole class for completing this project!!
