Just a reminder that Parents' Evening is this Wednesday (23rd March). It is really important that you attend as you will be given targets for your child to work on at home.
If you can't make Wednesday please arrange an alternative appointment with the class teacher.
This week we have been making 'Caterpillar Fruit Salad' to find out about different fruit. We had lots of fun tasting and smelling it! (See recipe below)
In maths we have been learning how to recognise coloured patterns and we even made some of our own.
We went on a mini beast hunt with Mrs Tait and found lots of creepy crawlies! We even had to look at some through a magnifying glass!
Next week we are going to be learning all about our families and what different jobs they do.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Fruit Salad
1 Apple
2 Pears
3 Plums
4 Strawberries
5 Oranges
Bunch of Mint Leaves
Peel, pare, seed, hull and section each fruit. Cut into bite-sized pieces. Then put them all together in a big bowl and chill. Garnish each serving with a sprig of mint. Serve to a small group of friends, after reading a good book. You'll enjoy every bit of it.
We used playdoh mats and playdoh to practice our phonics sounds. We made the letter to match the sounds on the mats.
The children used 2D shapes to make a rocket to fly our alien friend back home. We have been learning the names of many flat shapes and can describe what they look like.
We cut different 2D shapes out of clay and painted them carefully, choosing our colours independently. We made and painted a star, choosing a bright yellow colour so it would be the same as the shining stars that we see in the night sky.
The three boys worked together to build a train track. They fitted the pieces together carefully.
We fished for different coins and sorted them. We put matching coins in the same pots.
Our shape hunt around the school exhausted us! There were so many flat and solid shapes that we could find and name.
In Reception we look after our friends and help them with things that can be tricky. We understand that it is important to be kind and helpful towards others.
Even the snow doesn't stop us learning! We went outside and practiced our phonics sounds and letter writing in the snow. Our fingers were very chilly by the time we had finished our hard work!
He worked hard to write his letter to Santa. All of the Reception children had lots of ideas for their writing.
She thought very carefully about the sounds she needed in her words when she was writing her letter.
He moved the car by carefully choosing the buttons to make it move in different directions.
In Reception we are very good at working as a team. We helped our friends make patterns using Compare Bears - there were lots of different sizes and colours in our patterns.
She matched her sounds and letters very carefully when she was in our outdoor Writing Area. She wrote words that she knew and used her phonics skills to help write others.
We have been spotting shapes everywhere! Drawing around the shapes we spot helps us learn how to draw these ourselves.
Fantastic teamwork and balancing!
We have been practicing our counting skills and have used them to help us write number sentences.
Using different containers to find and compare amounts.
He carefully moved the car around the track that the boys had built.
We have practiced ordering and comparing numbers. We always use our counting skills to check what number comes next in sequences.
