On Tuesday 20th March Year 4 were visited by Andrew Bridge, Darius Defoe, Joel Chapman and Paul Gause of the Newcastle Eagles basketball team. The players helped us to improve our basketball skills and our fitness during a P.E lesson. They also gave us a lot of information about how to be healthy and keep fit. We found out how to measure our pulse and that we need to drink plenty of water every day, especially if we are going to be exercising.
After teaching us some basketball skills The Eagles then took the opportunity to come to our classroom and talk to us about our local community including what a community is and how we should respect the community around us.
This week Year 5 visited the Civic Centre in Gateshead to attend a "Show Racism The Red Card" event. They met some famous ex-footballers: Trevor Benjamin (Leicester City), Gary Bennett (Sunderland) as well as John Anderson and Olivier Bernard (Newcastle United).
Logan and Kaya won prizes for their questions at the event!
The girls look comfortable as they prepare to ask questions whilst sat in the chairs of the councillors.
Olivier Bernard leads the group in an activity watched closely by Gary Bennett.
One last photo we promise! Some of the class posed for a final photo with the former professionals at the end of the day!
In Year 5 we have been lucky enough to have people from No Limits Theatre pop in to school to teach us a wide variety of techniques used to make stage productions. They taught us how music can be used to imitate footsteps and other movements around the stage as well as creating atmosphere through song.
Thank you to No Limits Theatre for their visit to school and look out for Year 5 pupils who may appear on a stage near you soon!
Year 5 have been learning to play the Violin as part of their music lesson over term 1. They have covered various notes and learned how to skilfully blend individual notes in to a melody. To achieve this they have used different techniques to produce the sounds including plucking the strings!!

The class still have notes to learn and lessons will resume in January! Keep up the good work!
In recent weeks Year 4 have been creating purses as part of their design technology work. Mrs Wilson brought in some examples for them to look at before they put their own ideas on to paper to plan what they would like to do. Once they had finished their planning the pupils then practised threading needles and sewing before they could move on to the real thing. They hope you enjoy their finished purses that you can see below!!
Well done to the whole class for completing this project!!
