Introduction to Year 4

Welcome to Year 4
Year 4 have two teachers, Mr Wisby and Mrs Wynter. Mrs Clennell is our classroom assistant.

What the children say..
Mr Wisby is brilliant at sports and maths. He supports Arsenal football team. He is really, really funny in class. He always makes us laugh. He has a puppet called Mr Oobalooba and he has a monkey called Tyne Tine. Don’t go in his cupboard- there’s a cupboard monster!

What the children say......
Mrs Wynter is a fun teacher.She is great at teaching us spellings and sport. Sometimes she dances around the class to songs she likes.

What the children say.....
Mrs Clennell is good at art and sewing and making costumes. She is very kind to us and helps us with our work. She helps Mr Wisby and Mrs Wynter too.

We are having great fun being in Year 4. We are enjoy experiencing lots of different things both in school and out.

We love our class mascot ‘Tyne Tyne’ who goes everywhere we go and enjoys learning too! He even comes on our school trips! Here he is enjoying a ride at our trip at The Centre for Life.

In history this year we have been learning about the Tudors and enjoyed a visit to The Shipley Art Gallery where we met Mistress Elizabeth Maddison, the wife of a rich Tudor merchant. She told us lots of interesting things about life in Tudor Times.

We also took part in the Newcastle Gateshead’s Winter Light festival ‘Glow’ ( 30th Nov – 2nd Dec and 7th – 9th Dec). We worked together, with the help of the artists to make several light installations which will displayed at Saltwell Towers soon!

In Art and ICT we have been creating our own portaits using various collage materials to portay diferent textures, colours and effects. These portaits will be displayed in the main hall for everyone to enjoy!

In Literacy we have been studying the author Roald Dahl and we loved reading ‘ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. We had loads of fun at our Chocolate Day! Designing chocolate wrappers, cooking with chocolate and tasting the chocolate.
